| A small form slipped through a clump of trees. It kept low to the ground, as if it was expecting attack. Truth be told, Val, a shaman of Sardothien, didn't entirely feel safe. Why? Well, she lived in Sardothien. The young husky was lower ranking, too - not as low as an omega, thankfully, but she was only a shaman. Not to mention, huskies are naturally smaller than wolves; considering the alpha was a ferocious, merciless dire wolf, she had plenty to fear. Val made sure she'd stay in line in order to avoid being hurt or killed. It was hard, considering she was somewhat mischievous, but she'd rather be alive and bored than die at Nero's paw. She'd seen what he could do - it was nothing pretty. There were plenty of canines and felines she had to heal due to the fierce alpha. Nonetheless, she respected him. He was her alpha, and he was strong. That was all that mattered. The petite husky cautiously made her way to the river, clutching a fern leaf filled with various herbs she had managed to gather. Now that it was winter, there weren't as many plants to gather. Thankfully, she had managed to scrounge up a few. There were also the plants that grew fine in winter - Juniper berries were plentiful. Setting down the bundle of herbs, the she-dog lifted her head and scooted towards the rapids. It was mostly frozen over, but she could tell the ice was thin. Huffing, Val sat down on the edge. She had been hoping the ice would be thick enough for her to cross safely. There were bushes of herbs on the opposite side, taunting her. Ears twitching, she cast her blue eyes towards the herbs she had gathered. 'Is that enough...?' the delicate canine wondered, scowling. A cold rush of wind ruffled her fur. '... I suppose I could look for more.' Picking up the bundle, Val trekked on, her keen eyes scanning the ground, her head low. | |

      Nero
Green eyes glowed from the thicket as a black beast stalked the she-dog as the shaman collected herbs for the wounded. He was bored and had nothing better to do, plus he had the urge to stretch his legs, something he couldn't do cooped up in his den. He was going to be a father, nothing surprising for the male, yet the slight flutter in his chest spoke volumes of how nervous he truly was. Pushing the that feeling away the Alpha continued to watch the she-dog as she glared at the Shadow Creek's frozen over water. She must be trying to get at the plants on the other side... Nero thought to himself when he saw her sigh and walk away with the herbs she already collected in her mouth. Nero knew how dangerous the winter was and even more when cold water is added into the mix, yet the beast didn't care. Instead he revealed himself and walked towards the shallow river. "I am assuming you are in need of those specific herbs over there, correct shaman?" Nero rumbled out in a low growl as he started at his prize, stopping just short of the frozen stream. One would think Nero was foolish, but he knew what he was doing, he bore the scars from years of brutal and bloody battles. He was a massive brute, one equiped and primed by Mother Nature herself to plow throw the weak and insignificant and he wasn't about to let puny ice and cold water deter him in the sucess of his pack. Not today, not ever. Atleast not while he was alive and while he was in power. With that in mind, Nero backed up and jumped halfway across the river before landing through the ice, breaking it as soon as his body touch the thin layer. Yet, he did not stop he continued on to plow throw like the ice was nothing until he reached the other side, soaking wet. He was careful to avoid the berries when he grasped a branch of the purple-blue berries with his powerful jaws, tearing it effectively before throwing himself back into the water and swimming back to the other side. Upon reaching it the black beast shook out his thick heavy fur, freeing it from the excess water that clung to his coat. His father had done worse so this was nothing, but annoying to Nero. He walked to the huskie and dropped the branch at her feet. Then just as swiftly he turned around and slowly began to walk away. He may have been Sardothiens alpha and a purebred dire wolf at that, but he was not invincible, no matter how much he would have liked. The ice may have been thin, but it certainly was sharp causing Nero to have a few cuts and scrapes along his body. Besides that Nero didn't want to catch a cold either, he was still a living being and could die just like everyone else, "you are welcome! Next time get help, I do not want my pack weak because you couldn't find enough herbs. Understood?" Nero growled out behind him as he stopped short. | |

| Val silently pushed her way through the snow-covered undergrowth, her nose to the ground. She had quite a good sense of smell, being a dog, of course, so she could easily sniff out nearby herbs. However, she was so preoccupied with finding said herbs, that she failed to notice the approaching dire wolf until he spoke up. Whipping around, the she-dog's eyes widened. Dipping her head, the husky nervously muttered in reply to his question, "Y-yes, Alpha. Correct..." When he leaped into the water, the shaman let out a surprised woof and hurried to the edge. Surely he was freezing?! Jumping into an iced-over river wasn't safe...! Her mouth hung open momentarily, dumbfounded. When he retrieved the herbs and made his way back, the canine let out a small whine, and dipped her head once more. "Understood, Alpha... and thank you," she replied. When the male began to walk away, Val lifted her head and let out a small, alarmed whimper. "Alpha, are you okay? Surely you must be cold...! And you're all scratched up... You might get sick...!" The dainty husky couldn't help but worry about her packmates - especially her alpha. She didn't like his ways, sometimes, but she respected him. The alpha couldn't just fall ill due to swimming about in cold water! That would leave the pack vulnerable, and Val didn't want to take care of more canines and felines due to attacks from Pixduas- she didn't trust them one bit. | |
